Tropical Plants

Musa Basjoo Etna

Giant, evergreen grass which can reach a height of 7 metres, this plant normally produces offspring from the rhizome. Its leaves are long, measuring 3m in length and 60cm wide. The flowers have a monodic reproductive unit function. It normally produces a small, green non-edible fruit, or at least a fruit that is not as tasty as the common banana. It can cope well with heavy frosts which, although the leaf may be burned, it will later sprout again.
