Shrubs
The leaves of this plant are an intense green, are extremely compact, with long stems that can reach up to one and half metres to bear the flowers.
Bougainvillea Glabra
A climbing shrub with long, strong thorny branches. Its true beauty lies in the triple bracts found together all over the plant, making it intensely colourful, having just a white, practically unnoticeable small flower in the middle. The bracts remain on the plant throughout the hot months, they then turn green, then brown and eventually dry out.
Buxus Microphylla “Faulkner”
This is an evergreen shrub, a small tree which tends to reach 2 or 3 metres in height. The leaves are a bright green colour, 10–25 mm. long, oval in shape with a round tip.
Carisa Macrocarpa
These are compact or creeping shrubs (or small trees) that grow close to the ground, of irregular growth, with several y-shaped thorns. Depending on their growth, they can reach up to 5m in height (if they are compact) or 60cm (if creepers or runners).
Cassia Corymbosa
Semi-evergreen plant which can grow to around 2.5m in height. Its long, alternate feather-looking oval shaped leaves (with a slightly pointed tip), interestingly, curl back on themselves at nighttime. Another aspect worth noting is the plentiful 5 petaled flowers. They tend to be used to form dense hedges or by themselves, and are even planted in pots as small trees.
Cordyline Australis
The Cordyline is a shrub which originated in New Zealand and does not tend to grow higher than 1.5 metres when grown in a pot. Its leaves are almost 1m long and are spear shaped and curved. The fragrant white flowers are of a spiked shape, although when indoors, it does not tend to flower. Flowers appear in spring once the plants are over 8 years old.
Festuca Glauca
The Festuca glauca is one of the few herbaceous plants that are people truly want to have in the garden! Its long, blue, narrow leaves are very pretty and it can also be walked on and cut without being damaged.
Jasminum Multipartitum
Jasminum multipartitum is a species of Jazmin whose habitat is originally South Africa. It became popular in Spain when the Arabs brought it with them in the 16th century. Its value for the perfume industry in France in the 18th century was incalculable, with star-shaped, white super fragrant flowers.
Lagerstroemia Indica
The tree of Jupiter is a woody, deciduous plant with intense, green, shiny leaves in summer, and in autumn before falling, they change to golden, red or purple shades. It has a twisted trunk and a very smooth light brown bark.
Lantana Camara
The lantana is a vivacious plant and shrub, coming from the Brazilian tropics. Its flowers are small and dense, together in little squashed-looking crowns. They are yellow when they first open but then change to orange and later red. Flowers appear from the end of spring to the beginning of autumn.
Lavandula Dentata
The lavender is an evergreen plant which grows to around 90 cm in height. Its leaves are spear-shaped with slightly serrated edges. The flowers are bilabiate, of an intense violet-blue colour which come in sprigs. They are extremely fragrant and stay on the plant from the end of spring to the beginning of autumn. Lavender has antiseptic, antispasmodic and invigorating properties.
Myrtus Tarantina
An evergreen, super compact round bush with slender elliptical leaves. Its small, creamy-white pink-tinged fragrant flowers, appear from June to August. It has juicy purple berries, which stay on the branches, decorating the tree. It prefers warm places and can be used to form flowering, aromatic decorative hedges in autumn too, thanks to its colourful berries.
Nerium oleander
The compactness and spectacular long-lasting flowering of this shrub have led to it becoming the symbol of the Mediterranean summer. Its spear-shaped, evergreen leaves grow together in groups of 2 to 3 and are of a medium-green colour. Flowering depends on the variety of plant and it may be just one flower on its own or two, which are not particularly fragrant but they do come in a range of colours, and last the whole summer.
Nerium oleander Tige tressé
Its compactness and spectacular, long-lasting flowers have led to this shrub becoming the symbol of the Mediterranean summer. Its evergreen spear-shaped leaves come in groups of 2 to 3 and are of a medium green colour, and it produces some flowers which are not very fragrant but which last the whole summer long.
Nandina Doméstica
This is an extremely decorative plant which grows in a similar way to the bamboo and reaches almost 2m in height. Its leaves are compound and spear-shaped and change colour as they grow, initially red, then green and finally back to red again before falling from the plant. It flowers in summer in spiked bunches of about 20 cm in size which eventually give pretty red fruit in the shape of little red balls.
Photinia Fraseli o Photinia Red Robin
This shrub is evergreen and can reach heights of up to 3m. It is easy to grow and does so quite quickly. Its leaves are elongated and measure around 10cm. It is known for the different colours it turns depending on the season. It gets its name from the red colour of its bracts as it grows and changes.
Pittosporum tobira “nanum”
This shrub can live for years with little or no pruning. Its oval leaves with their wavy, down turning edges are of a shiny dark green colour, which stays the same throughout the seasons. It flowers from April to June, with little, very fragrant bunches of a creamy-white colour.

Plumbago capensis
The plumbago is an evergreen, climbing shrub-like plant. It originally came from temperate, hot or tropical regions. This growth of this plant is controlled by using support poles when doing so and it can be used to form part of the decoration in gardens, terraces or on walls.
Eremophila Nivea
The eremiaphilids genus has many varieties. Those grown along the ground are a different size to those which grow upwards in small bushy trees; the colour of their leaves also range from whitish-grey to dark green and its flowers may be white, blue, violet, green, yellow, red, pink or apricot.
Rosmarinus officinales
This is an evergreen shrub which can reach heights of up to 2m. Its leaves are a dark green colour on the top and of a white woolly colour and texture on the underside. The edges of the leaves roll inwards and have a pleasant balsamic scent. The flowers tend to be blue although they may sometimes be white or pink.
Rosmarinus repens
The Rosemary creeper is an aromatic, edible bush with an evergreen leaf, belonging to the lamiaceaes. It is highly ornamental thanks to its ‘weeping’ fall of its leaves and even more so when its purple flowers are in bloom.
Solanum Jasminoides
A climbing, mix-mash bush, whether this plant loses its leaves or not, depends on the climate. It can be deciduous or evergreen in warmer climes. The flowers are a beautiful white colour, in fragrant yellow bunches with prominent anthers. These flowers eventually yield black fruit.
Teucrium Fructicans
An evergreen shrub with oval, shiny, green leaves, which are white on the underside. Its young squarish branches are covered with a white powder and from mid-April to September they are covered with little light blue flowers. It copes well with saline soils and any type of pruning.
Viburnum Lucidum
An evergreen, dense, erect, fast-growing bushy plant, the viburnum lucidum has large oval, elongated leaves of a shiny green colour, which take on a reddish hue in autumn. At the end of spring, beautiful white flowers grow on it. It copes will with being pruned to fit in with its surroundings.
Westringia fructicosa
This is an evergreen bush, which is very similar to rosemary with its greyish leaves. It has white flowers from spring to summer. It copes well with saline soils. It is used in gardens to make hedges and in large pots for terraces.
Westringia longuifolia
Of rapid growth, this bush can reach up to 3m in height and width. It has a dense, evergreen foliage, of a green-grey colour. It can live in direct sunlight or in semi shade and it when grown in hotter areas, it produces lots of tiny whitish flowers, practically all year round.
