Carisa Macrocarpa
Common name: Carisa or Cerezo de Natal.
With shiny, dark green, oval, leathery leaves, this plant produces pretty fragrant flowers in a star shape (around 5cm in diameter), which are white and very similar to Jasmin. They flower from spring to the end of autumn. The bright red fruit is edible and they are used to make desserts and jams.
These are plants which are often used as protective hedges, thanks to their large thorns and intense green colour.
Origin: Tropical and sub-tropical zones of Africa, Australia and Asia.
Average watering. Sun or semi-shade.
